What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a branch of naturopathic medicine. A homeopath will focus their study on one
modality of natural medicine, whereas naturopathic studies look at a variety of modalities.
Homeopathic medicines are different compared to naturopathic herbal remedies in the way that they have been diluted to a micro-dose of their original substance.

Conventional medicine seeks to control the symptoms of an ailment, homeopathy regards
symptoms as the bodies natural attempt to restore itself to balance. Treating the root cause of
the ailment and stimulating the immune system into homeostasis. Everyone manifests a disease in their own way, homeopathic treatment will vary from each individual who appear to share similar symptoms. A homeopathic medicine is taken to stimulate a healing response that is specific to the individual. In treatment, a person may not need to take a homeopathic remedy on an ongoing basis.

Homeopathy is based on “like cures like”. Whatever symptoms a substance can cause in a
healthy person, that same substance prepared homoeopathically can be used on the sick
experiencing “similar” symptoms to treat their ailment. For example, when cutting an onion you may experience stinging, watering eyes and a runny nose. Someone who is experiencing hay fever/allergy symptoms with stinging, watering eyes and running nose. They may use Allium Cepa (red onion) prepared homoeopathically to relieve symptoms.
